Polycystic Ovary Syndrome

Polycystic ovary comes as the  result of hormonal imbalances in women in reproductive age. It is characterized by high levels of androgens (male hormones). According to studies, this pathology is associated with high levels of insulin in the bloodstream. The  excess insulin causes the ovaries to produce more male hormones.

Polycystic ovary syndrome occurs with prolonged or inconsistent periods, hyperglycemia, weight gain, acne, oily skin, hair loss,  and pain in the pelvis area. In addition to the changes in the cycle, this hormonal disorder is associated with high risk for infertility, insulin-resistant diabetes, hypertension, hypercholesterolemia and cardiac diseases.

Simple routine and lifestyle changes can help you manage your symptoms and reduce complications.

Linseed

Linseeds are used in treating hormonal imbalance, as they have the ability to lower the levels of androgenic hormones. They contain lignans, nutrients that increase the production of globulin which then binds with sex hormones, thus hindering the effects of abnormal androgenic hormones in the organism.

Being rich in fiber, linseed help reduce the metabolism of glucose and blood cholesterol levels.

Include linseed in your  diet as seeds or as an oil.

Consume every day 1 teaspoon of oil in the morning, on  an empty stomach, and at dinner before meals.

The Secrets of Nature brings you Oneva Linseed oil , produced with the highest quality, certified by ISO 22000 and obtained through a cold pressed system. Mix 1-2 tablespoons of linseeds with 1 cup of water. Drink regularly every morning.

Use linseeds or linseed oil in salads, cereal, soups and fruit juice.

Mint (mentha spicata, mentha piperita)

Mint  is used for  polycystic ovary syndrome because of the antiandrogenic properties it possesses.  It helps cure hirsutism by decreasing the levels of testosterone and increasing the levels of the luteinizing and follicle stimulating hormone (female hormones).

Put 1 teaspoon of mint leaves in 1 cup of boiling water. Cover the lid for 10 minutes, then drain. Drink this tea twice a day for a few weeks.

Apple Vinegar

Apple vinegar, unrefined and 100% organic, helps control blood sugar levels and prevents the body from producing too much insulin. Less insulin means less testosterone. Also, apple vinegar helps in weight loss and overall well-being.

Put 1 teaspoon of apple vinegar with 1 cup of water and drink it  each morning on an empty stomach

You can gradually increase the dose to 2 tablespoons of apple vinegar diluted with  a glass of water two or three times a day. If you cannot stand the taste of apple vinegar, then mix it with orange juice or some other fruit.

Artisanal and Unrefined Apple Vinegar, prepared under the care of pharmacist, is now available at the Secrets of Nature.

Cinnamon

Various studies have  shown that cinnamon supplements regulate the menstrual cycle in women who suffer from polycystic ovary syndrome. Studies also show that this plant reduces insulin-resistance of the organism.

Put 1 teaspoon of cinnamon powder into 1 cup of hot water. Prepare this drink everyday for several months till the desired results are achieved.

Include cinnamon in your daily diet by adding it to cereals, oats, yoghurt, tea or fruit juices.

Consume no more than 2 teaspoons of cinnamon per day.

Fish oil

Rich in omega-3, fish oil helps reduce androgenicity and increases the  sensitivity to insulin. Studies support its effectiveness in reducing symptoms associated to polycystic ovary, as well as the effects it has on inflammation, excess fat  and chronic diseases.

Consult with your doctor or pharmacist about the dose and frequency before consuming the fish oil. The usual dose is approximately  3000 mg per day.

Basil

Basil leaves have antiandrogenic properties, as well as help control insulin blood and body weight. Basil also has antioxidant properties, anti-inflammatory and soothes the  nervous system.

Make basil part of your diet by adding it to your meals. Consume 8-12 basil leaves every morning or consume them regularly in teas.

Basil tends to interact with antidiabetic drugs and blood thinners, so be careful.

There are many remedies to treat polycystic ovary syndrome which acting by lowering the level of testosterone and increase estrogen levels. A high fiber  diet helps balance estrogen level.
